Update from Lighthouse School on 4 Good Fund Award

5 February 2018

YORbuild2 Framework Manager Derek Prest has paid a visit to Lighthouse School in Leeds to witness first hand some of the improvements made using a 4 Good Fund donation.

The school applied to the 4 Good Fund for assistance with providing a multi-interactive learning room for young people aged 11 to 19 with an autistic spectrum condition (ASC) or related communication disorder.

The room offers sensory experience ranging from simple educational aids – colouring walls, visuals to aid learning – to actual replications of the outside world such as noise, crowds and movement.

The room can be turned into an office environment for example, with moving images and sounds to mimic those of an office. This would help pupils adapt to sensory challenges, leading to them being able to successfully attend work experience placements.
