YORbuild Showcased in NEC Case Study

28 May 2011

The YORbuild Framework and its use of the NEC3 suite of contracts has been showcased in a NEC case study.

The NEC3 form of contract has the unique distinction of a full endorsement from the Office of Government Commerce and the National Audit Office. The NEC suite of contracts forms the contractual back bone of the YORbuild Framework and facilitates the use of the NEC3 main form of contract and all of its individual options, the Short Form, the Term Service Contract and the Professional Services Contract.

NEC3 is a family of contracts that facilitates the implementation of sound project management principles and practices as well as defining legal relationships. It is suitable for procuring a diverse range of – Works, Services and Supply spanning major framework projects through to minor works and purchasing of supplies and goods.
The Construction Clients’ Board (formerly Public Sector Clients’ Forum) recommends that public sector organisations use the NEC3 contracts when procuring construction. Standardising use of this comprehensive suite of contracts should help to deliver efficiencies across the public sector and promote behaviours in line with the principles of Achieving Excellence in Construction.

Commenting on the case study YORbuild Development and Performance Manager Lee Parkinson said, “YORbuild is a third-generation managed framework and offers an optimum balance between procurement efficiency and flexibility. It is OJEU-compliant and provides a range of call-off options which can be awarded under any NEC3 contract.NEC3 is the only contract suite recommended for public sector use by the Office of Government Commerce and was chosen because it encourages collaborative working while providing a clear visibility of cost for the client team.”
