£11,000 cash grant for village facility
Following Cherry Burton Parish Council’s successful application to the YOR4Good Fund for a £11,000 cash grant, YOR4Good Vice Chair, Stefanie Wright was pleased to present them with a plaque from the YOR4Good Fund.

The Sportsfield Management Committee has been working hard to restore the sports field pavilion building, which included replacing the roof, installation of double glazing, renewal of exterior panels, addition of a disabled toilet and created three new changing rooms with showers.
Tony Baker said: “The final stage of the restoration was the entrance corridor, and we were delighted to receive the generous support of the YOR4Good Fund. The funding enabled the installation of a new ceiling, energy-efficient LED lighting, wall panelling, complete redecoration, and new doors for the changing rooms. In addition, the loft was boarded to provide improved storage. We are extremely grateful to YOR4Good for their support in helping us bring this project to completion and ensuring the pavilion continues to serve the community for many years to come.”
YOR4Good Vice Chair, Stefanie Wright said: “We are delighted to have supported the refurbishment of this exceptional community facility. It serves various groups, benefiting both younger and older residents. The renewed Sports Pavilion now offers a safe, warm, and inviting space for sports and community gatherings, ensuring it remains a vibrant hub for the community.”
The sports ground and facilities supports 10 tennis teams, with 66 juniors registered for tennis coaching, seven football teams from the age of nine years old, a cricket team and a rounders team. In addition, the Sportsfield Pavilion Lounge is available to hire for events and the annual village show will be moved and held at the sports field.
