For people, not profit

YORhub is run by local authorities across the region. Our ethos of delivering social value runs through everything we do.

A key strand of social value is delivering employment and skills outcomes for the communities we serve.

It’s a fundamental building block for social mobility and a sustainable local economy.

It’s not a bolt on, nor an afterthought. It’s an integral part of everything we do.

It makes us who we are.

Helping you deliver your priorities

2,200

People progressed into employment

All our clients have different requirements. You’ll have unique priorities that reflect your local needs.

We’ll always work with you to help you deliver them.

A one-size-fits-all approach just doesn’t cut it, so YORhub has a flexible menu of options. We’ll work with you to tailor the outputs that deliver the best fit for you.

Choose from project-initiated or existing apprenticeships to increase your skills base.

Choose work experience placements or school visits to enthuse local pupils about a career in construction.

Want to promote higher-level skills?

Focus on turning these opportunities into permanent jobs?

Prioritise opportunities for children leaving care, ex-offenders, disabled people or others furthest from the job market?

Whatever your priorities are, we’ll work with you to get the right match for your scheme – and your local community.

Adding Value through Employment & Skills was always a key goal for us on YORbuild2 – 19 apprentices across 5 projects means we’re winning.

The right outputs for the right job

29,000

Pupils involved in site visits and workshops

Our team of dedicated professionals understands the opportunities presented by each job.

We’ll work with you to set realistic benchmarks for the successful contractor or their supply chain to deliver.

These are captured in a scheme-specific Employment and Skills Plan.

We make this Plan contractual to reinforce compliance.

We also work with a local company to deliver the YORfuture Shared Apprenticeship Service.

This enables employment and skills outcomes to be delivered on schemes that couldn’t otherwise support these outputs, perhaps due to insufficient value or duration.

The service also offers apprentices the chance to work for a number of different contractors throughout their apprenticeship, giving them more exposure to the wider world of work.

Robust performance measurement

We’ll support you and your contractors throughout the process – both at tendering stage and while the job is on site.

Like you, we’ll receive monthly updates on contractors’ employment and skills delivery as the contract progresses, so everyone can track progress and easily report on outcomes.

And we’re always there to celebrate and share best practice, or help contractors get back on track.

We can also work with a range of tools, such as East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Social Value Calculator or the Social Value Portal, to help clients measure the social value arising from their contracts.
