Willmott Dixon & YOR4Good supporting Veterans

Delivered through the YOR4Good Fund, Wilmott Dixon has supported the Veterans Community Working Party in Catterick by donating a variety of equipment to enable veterans to take an active part in maintaining and improving local spaces in the community, with a main focus on Coronation Park.

The Veterans Community Working Party CIC (VCWP) is a community interest company operating in North Yorkshire that focuses on supporting veterans and volunteers by bringing them together to combat social isolation and improve mental health through practical, community-based projects. This transforms the experience of veterans suffering from isolation or mental health issues through creative, restorative, outdoor projects. By encouraging mindful connections to the natural world, with a range of practical and creative skills, Veterans help and support each other whilst transforming outdoor spaces for organisations and individuals.

The Coronation Park Labyrinth was part of a Royal British Legion war memorial, Millennium project but had become neglected, overgrown and ‘forgotten’. Katayoun Dowlatshahi was one of three artists commissioned to create artworks for Catterick Garrison’s new town centre. She rediscovered the labyrinth on a site visit and the project to restore the memorial began, enlisting assistance from veterans and volunteers.

The Director of VCWP said: “By bringing people together from different communities, VCWP CIC helps build trust, foster friendships, and reduce social isolation among both volunteers and veterans. The tools donated will enable to us to maintain projects and continuing offering support across North Yorkshire.”

This initiative aligns with Willmott Dixon’s commitment to delivering long-term social value by investing in inclusive community infrastructure. The project supports wider objectives around wellbeing, opportunity, and sustainable communities. Completed in March 2026, the initiative aimed to create positive and lasting social value by providing essential equipment that enables veterans to participate in meaningful volunteering opportunities within the community.

Wilmott Dixon, Assistant Social Value Manager, Hannah Blenkinsop, said; “It was great to speak to local veterans who are working with the Veterans Community Working Party to hear about their stories and how this great charity has impacted their lives.”

Through the YOR4Good Fund, Willmott Dixon provided support and tools to the value of £6,417.39. This contribution enabled equipment to be purchased and delivered in line with the needs of service users.
