New project supports wildlife in Bridlington

The creation of a green corridor along the Gypsey Race River has provided walking and cycling routes, play areas and an improved habitat for wildlife

Works included re-profiling the land, construction of retaining walls, re profiling of the river, landscaping and the planting of 150 new trees

The Gypsey Race Park is a great new facility for Bridlington, creating a special area for both residents and visitors to enjoy... the project marks a huge step forward for the regeneration of the town

Provision for nature was integral to the project

The finished park features 798 square meters of woodland, 610 square meters of wetland planting, 374 square meters of shrub planting, 140 square meters of ornamental grass land and 123 square meters of meadow. The river has been re profiled to increase depth and flow which provides a habitat for fish and eels

All of these areas provide a great increase in biodiversity which aims to encourage insects, birds, bats, voles and other wildlife and plants
