Provision for nature was integral to the project

The finished park features 798 square meters of woodland, 610 square meters of wetland planting, 374 square meters of shrub planting, 140 square meters of ornamental grass land and 123 square meters of meadow. The river has been re profiled to increase depth and flow which provides a habitat for fish and eels

All of these areas provide a great increase in biodiversity which aims to encourage insects, birds, bats, voles and other wildlife and plants

Value for the community

Gypsey Race Park now provides walking and cycling routes, play areas and green spaces for the community to enjoy. In tandem with its commitment to encouraging environmental diversity and security, the value of this project extends well beyond its monetary value
