Community Funding and Support

Worklink Memory Garden Cottingham

YOR4Good

Our community fund, YOR4Good, has been developed to support economic regeneration in the area covered by YORhub’s frameworks.

It is funded by cash and/or benefit-in-kind donations from the contractors of our YORcivil and YORbuild frameworks, when they are delivering construction projects through YORhub.

What does it do?

YOR4Good supports local economic regeneration through the provision of benefit-in-kind donations or cash grants (generally up to £10,000) to charities and community groups undertaking small projects within their communities.

How can charities and community groups access the YOR4Good Fund?

Charities and community groups can access the Fund:
by applying for a YOR4Good Cash Grant as described below,

or

by applying for benefit-in-kind support delivered via a YOR4Good Contractor Site Initiative or YOR4Good Site Initiative Application for Resource Support as described below.

YOR4Good successes

£2.1 million

Total funds awarded

Since YOR4Good was established in 2013, the contributions from our YORbuild and YORcivil contractors have enabled us to support 250 projects through donations exceeding £2.1 million across the Yorkshire & Humber region.

YOR4Good Cash Grants:

Periodically, YOR4Good accepts applications from community groups and organisations located within the area covered by YORhub’s frameworks.

Applications must:

  • Be sponsored by users of the frameworks or contractors appointed to them
  • Demonstrate how their project contributes to one or more of YORhub’s key themes

The 3 key themes are:

Employment and Skills

  • Potentially enhancing the opportunity for people to gain employment through the activities they will be undertaking
  • Providing an environment for people to learn new skills, promoting education, health and wellbeing

Sustainability

  • Enhancing the longevity of the organisation by increasing the opportunity for membership and/or reducing operational costs
  • Reducing the organisation’s impact on the environment
  • Contributing to or enhancing the environment in the community

Economic regeneration

  • Revitalising a community asset
  • Reducing crime
  • Creating a healthier community
  • Helping vulnerable people

How to apply for YOR4Good Cash Grants

YOR4Good runs time-limited campaigns to distribute cash grants provided by our contractors once or twice per year, depending on the availability of funds.

The next campaign to distribute the YOR4Good Cash Grants will be notified in due course, but is expected to be in late 2026.  If you would like to register your interest and be notified of the fund opening date, please email your contact details to Stan Brown.

Applications are made through the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s grant application portal, Flexigrant. Guidance notes on how to apply are set out in the Cash Grant Guidance Notes Issue 5 below.

If you are unable to register or submit an electronic YOR4Good Cash Grant application through Flexigrant, please contact Stan Brown, who is the YOR4Good Coordinator.

YOR4Good Site Initiatives:

Site Initiatives must contribute to one or more of the 3 key themes set out above

  • YOR4Good Contractor Site Initiative:

This is where a contractor of the YORhub frameworks would like to deliver their commitment to the YOR4Good Fund by means of a benefit-in-kind contribution during their construction works, taking advantage of readily available labour, material or plant resources to deliver economic regeneration projects in the local area.  The contractor or YORhub client identifies a local community regeneration project requiring assistance and initiates the Site Initiative procedure.

Contractors told us that it is not always straightforward to identify suitable site initiatives to deliver. In response to this feedback, we have developed a way for charities and community organisations to submit a proposal for adoption as a site initiative by a contractor, which is known as a YOR4Good Site Initiative Application for Resource Support.

  • YOR4Good Site Initiative Application for Resource Support

The Resource Support initiative enables charities and community organisations across the Yorkshire and Humber region to apply to the YOR4Good Fund for the opportunity to access benefit-in-kind support by submitting a Site Initiative Application for Resource Support Form.

This application for resource support is intended to take advantage of resources that are delivering a YORhub Framework construction project nearby. Contractors will donate benefit in kind resources which can be a very efficient way of delivering a community project. This is not an application to receive a cash grant from the fund.

The YOR4Good Fund Team cannot guarantee that Site Initiative Applications for Resource Support will receive support from our YORhub Contractors, but following an application being approved, we will endeavour to align the requirements with one of our Contractors.
