YORhub helps champion new mental health resource
YORhub is pleased to announce the launch of a new mental health hub, providing guidance and support for the industry looking to comply with the recent Construction Leadership Council’s Joint Code of Practice (JCOP) and other standards such as the ISO 45003 for Psychological Health and Safety and the Standard for suicide BS 30480.
The Health in Construction Leadership Group (HCLG) was formed in 2014 after a challenge from HSE’s Construction Industry Advisory Committee (ConIAC) for the industry to do more to ‘Think Health’ and responding to the influence of ‘Construction 2025’, the Industry Strategy for Construction.
HCLG’s Mental Health Working Group is led by Claire Douglas of Mace Dragados and is comprised of contractors, clients, the Health and Safety Executive, professional bodies, trade associations and trade unions, and includes representation from YORhub by Mike Raven, Client Engagement Lead.
Dr. Claire Douglas commented; “The group has worked together to create a central resource that can be easily used by all construction firms, no matter what size. By following the sections within the Mental Health Hub, risks to psychological health and safety can be identified and the impact on workers can be mitigated. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the creation of the Mental Health Hub.”
Mike Raven said “It’s really positive to see mental health in construction being recognised as an issue and the Health in Construction Leadership Group’s mental health hub is something to help address that. We all know how much of a challenge supporting mental health in the industry is, but what we need is practical guidance to help people incorporate mental health and wellbeing into their everyday work, and this is a good step to support that need.”
