Hobson & Porter deliver over £28000 of investment
Three community projects across Hull and the East Riding have received a significant boost thanks to more than £28,000 of investment delivered by Hobson & Porter through the YOR4Good Fund. The improvements were made possible through the contractor’s involvement on the YORbuild3 Medium Works Framework, demonstrating how framework delivery can create lasting social value alongside construction projects.
Supporting Community Facilities
One of the projects focused on the refurbishment and redecoration of Beverley Memorial Hall, a well-established community arts and events venue managed by a board of trustees.
Originally opened in 1959 after being converted from a former church building, the hall hosts a wide range of activities, including theatre productions, dance classes, weddings and community group meetings. Works worth almost £9,000 have enhanced internal spaces and facilities, helping to support the venue’s continued use while contributing to the preservation of an important community asset.
Investing in Grassroots Sport
The YOR4Good funding has also enabled improvements at Holderness Vikings Rugby League Club, where a £9,848 project has delivered new LED floodlighting.
The volunteer-led club supports more than 200 young players and over 20 coaches. Replacing ageing halogen lighting with modern, energy-efficient LED systems has improved visibility during evening training sessions while reducing energy consumption and running costs.
The scheme included lighting design, installation and testing, helping to create a safer and more effective environment for players throughout the winter months.
Preserving a Historic Community Building
A third project saw Hobson & Porter undertake £10,000 of essential repairs and redecoration works at Woodmansey Church near Beverley. Delivered on a fast-track programme, the works included structural repairs and alterations that ensured the church could remain open in time for Christmas services. The improvements have helped secure the continued use of an important local building at the heart of the community.
