Children’s choir is a sound investment

The Service Children’s Community Choir

The Service Children’s Community Choir

The Service Children’s Community Choir (SCCC) in Catterick provides a safe and welcoming environment, where children can come together through music. It offers service children, a group that can be particularly vulnerable due to the frequent relocations and disruptions associated with military family life, the opportunity to learn from specialist music educators and create a healthier and more connected community to build confidence, develop social connections and improve wellbeing.

Prior to the initiative, limitations in equipment and resources restricted the choir’s ability to deliver effective performances. In September 2026 and delivered via the YOR4Good Fund, Willmott Dixon provided £1,182.91 worth of equipment and staff time, enabling the purchase of sound equipment and microphones for use at future events and rehearsals. This investment will help the choir continue to provide enriching experiences for young people while strengthening its ability to engage with the wider community through music.

This initiative aligns with Willmott Dixon’s commitment to delivering long-term social value. The project supports wider objectives around wellbeing, opportunity, and sustainable communities.

Hannah Blenkinsop, Social Value Manager for Willmott Dixon was invited to one of the choir rehearsals where she was thanked by students and volunteers. “It was great to see what a difference the equipment will make to the community,” she said.

Angela Campbell, Director at the SCCC said: “This is amazing and I can’t thank you all enough on behalf of myself, my fellow choir directors and the children”
