High Street Centre Restoration Works

The High Street Centre in Rawmarsh, near Rotherham, is currently undergoing restoration works funded by the YOR4Good scheme.

YOR4Good provides grants of up to £10,000 to community groups and organisations across the Yorkshire and Humber region to help support local economic regeneration projects.

The scheme is funded through donations of money or benefits in kind from the contractors when they are awarded building projects through YORhub, as part of their social responsibility commitments.

The YOR4Good fund has already awarded a total of £184,000 to several community groups in recent months, including The High Street Centre in Rawmarsh.

The High Street Centre

Work involving the extension of the reception area started on 27th July 2020 at the High Street Centre in Rawmarsh; however, it is now being made priority that outside work is complete and the new space is watertight before winter weather arrives. Contractors are pushing for this to be the case.

Other than that, all work is claimed to be “on track” and is due to be complete by February 2021.

The picture below gives an artists impression of what the new reception will look like. When completed the new entrance will provide direct access from the reception to the hall, the lift, and the new meeting room as well as providing an accessible space, waiting area, reception desk, and information area.

The reception project has been many years in the planning and, with thanks to the YOR4Good scheme and its funders, has allowed the people at The High Street Centre to make a start on their long-awaited project.
